An essential tool for leaders and supervisors is self-awareness of their leadership style.

Knowledge of one’s own strengths and areas for development, and awareness of one’s behavioural preferences are keys to effective leadership.

Another essential leadership tool is being able to understand the needs of others and the situation.

Knowing what makes others ‘tick’, and being able to appraise situations quickly and appropriately, enables leaders and supervisors to choose the most effective course of action.
